Design Copyright Infringement Lawyers

When Diana was young, everyone told her to get her head out of the clouds.
But Diana wasn't dreaming - She built a very successful business from her creativity and passion for art!
Instead of asking Diana for permission, the thief stole Diana's design and claimed it as his own

From graphic and visual design, to industrial and product design, to fashion and more, design touches every facet of our lives today. Whichever design discipline you practice, if your designs have been used in ways you didn’t consent to, design copyright infringement was committed and you may be entitled to recover damages. If you believe you’re a victim of infringement, contact the dedicated design copyright infringement lawyers right here at CopyCat Legal to learn more about how we can help.

Here to Protect Your Design
Regardless of what you design, we understand the hours and talent that go into your craft. Unfortunately, there are others who would think nothing of using your design for their own benefit and without your permission. This is unacceptable, and our copyright infringement lawyers are here to help.
Acting Proactively

Though you technically own the rights to your design from the moment of its inception or creation, the most important thing you can do to protect it is to have it copyrighted. Once your design is copyrighted, you officially own the design and have exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, or publicly display the design (unless the design was created “for hire,” meaning you made the design for an employer).

Once you register your design with the U.S. Copyright Office, it will deter individuals from stealing your design, or, if they decide to steal it anyway, it will be easier to pursue damages from them.

When Diana saw someone else using her designs, she knew just what to do...
After she called and told him exactly what had happened, CopyCat helped Diana get her design back and recover everything she'd lost
Pursuing Damages

Whether your design was copyrighted or not, if we can prove that it was stolen, you should qualify for damages. If your design was copyrighted, we can pursue statutory damages, which can range from $750 to $30,000, and in some cases, even more. If your design was not copyrighted, we may still seek actual damages on your behalf. That said, you should note that actual damages are a bit more complicated to calculate than statutory damages, which is why it’s always best to have your design copyrighted from the start.
